Un-Discovered Island: an island once believed to be real, but which is no longer on the map.

SUCH AS?

There's quite a few of them on this map, published in 1570, where today you'd find only ocean. There's Frisland, Drogeo, Icaria, Podalida and Neome. None of these islands exist, but they all appeared on charts for a long time before anyone realised they weren't there.

And it's not just old maps, either.

Sandy Island, far off the east coast of Australia, appeared on sailing charts and even digital maps, including Google Maps, right up until 2012.

Look! There it is.

In fact there are hundreds of un-discovered islands, all over the world.

SOME BEGAN LIFE AS MYTHS

Others were the result of human error or deception.

While others...

NOBODY REALLY KNOWS

The Un-Discovered Islands tells the stories of some of these amazing places, from ancient times right up to the present day, from familiar waters to the far corners of the world.  The book is beautifully illustrated by Katie Scott.
